What changed
This page lists changes that affect users and omits minor internal adjustments.
- Refined double-click selection to use the nearest enclosing quotes or brackets while preserving ordinary word selection for variables, URL segments, and other text inside strings.
- Fixed multi-cursor editing so normal typing and IME-style composition previews and committed text appear at every cursor and remain undoable.
- Added the Microsoft Store edition and bidirectional migration of supported preferences, such as language and themes, between the website and Store editions.
- The Store edition can now optionally install only the required language servers and run LSP syntax diagnostics when the user presses the button.
- Improved long-line wrapping and fixed indentation, restored rendering after restart, and syntax colors during Japanese IME composition.
- Prevented # characters inside HTML entities from being mistaken for color codes.
- Fixed an issue where CSS ID selectors such as #add were mistaken for three-digit color codes and displayed an unwanted color preview.
- Double-clicking inside a double-quoted string now selects all text between the quotes, while ordinary word selection remains unchanged.
- Fixed a rendering issue where returning to a tab could leave the previous tab’s editing-line overlay visible and make a line appear shifted.
- Shared editing-line state is now reset during tab restoration and rebuilt from the current selection.
- Limited tree search to the open workspace, listed files first, and organized matching folders in a collapsed group.
- Selecting a folder result now reveals it in the original tree without changing the workspace root.
- Stopped the Windows installer from changing default file associations and added Edit with Cuvel for BAT, CMD, and PowerShell scripts while preserving their normal execution behavior.
- Improved update-check caching so a newly installed app version checks the server immediately instead of waiting 24 hours.
- Updated the official Windows MSI, Linux deb, and AppImage builds.
- Added the checked app version to update metadata so changing the installed version invalidates the previous check time.
- Added update notices through a red settings badge and red text in Settings when a newer stable release is available.
- Choosing Later hides only the badge until the next release; the Settings notice remains. Cuvel does not update automatically.
- Fixed a rendering issue that could temporarily shift an unrelated line after pasting.
- Added the foundation for checking the public web release and presenting an update notice.
- Added the Forest syntax color theme with localized names in nine languages.
- Refined the proportions of the flat app icon.
- Changed the app icon to a flat design.
- Fixed vertical alignment between line numbers and editor text.
- Retained rendered content for up to eight tabs and 20,000 total rows to make large-file tab switching faster.
- Added an initial-render loader and LRU eviction beyond the retention limits.
- Strengthened comment coloring across HTML, PHP, C-family languages, Python, Java, Ruby, and other supported formats.
- Split expensive rendering work after large multi-line pastes so editing can continue without freezing.
- Improved synchronization between newlines, caret, selection, IME, undo/redo, and syntax rendering.
- Continuously improved suggestions, closing-tag completion, multi-cursor editing, search and replace, comments, indentation, minimap, and folder search.
- Reduced memory and waiting time in long files by optimizing undo history, session saving, and tab-render caches.
- Improved usability and stability after the initial release.
- Added deb and AppImage packages for Ubuntu 22.04 or later.
- Published the first stable release of Cuvel Editor.
- Included tabbed editing, folder tree, minimap, search and replace, Diff, multi-cursor editing, snippets, and optional LSP syntax checks.
