1. Scope
This policy applies to the Cuvel app, editor.cuvel.net, license authentication, in-app inquiries, purchases, and support. Third-party services linked from Cuvel are governed by their own privacy policies.
2. Information handled on your device
Cuvel may store file and folder paths, open tabs, edited or unsaved text, encodings and line endings, cursor and display state, themes, fonts, input assistance, snippets, downloaded LSP tools, local diagnostics, signed license certificates, license status, verification times, and an installation ID on your device to support editing and session restoration.
File contents are not sent to Cuvel servers for license checks, site analytics, or download measurement. Content you choose to paste into an inquiry is transmitted as part of that inquiry.
3. Information sent from the app
Licensing and free trial
To manage trials, issue, activate or deactivate licenses, prevent misuse, restore authentication, and provide support, Cuvel may send or store a license key or its hash/prefix, a device hash generated by Cuvel, OS type, device name, app version, relevant dates and status, signed authorization data, IP address, User-Agent, and access time. Raw OS identifiers, MAC addresses, and CPU numbers are not stored in the license database.
New-version checks
To notify you of a new public release, Cuvel automatically accesses the official update-check API generally once every 24 hours when the check is due at startup or when you return to the app. The request sends a User-Agent containing the app version, and ordinary server logs may record the IP address, User-Agent, and access time. Edited files, file paths, device identifiers, license keys, and inquiry contents are not sent. The latest version, publication date, last-check time, and version dismissed with “Later” may be stored on your device.
Inquiries
When you use in-app contact, we handle the message, reply email, app version, submission time, and related server logs.
LSP and language tools
Selected tools are downloaded from Cuvel, checked with SHA256, and run locally. File paths and edited content may be passed to a local language server, but not to Cuvel’s license server. A third-party tool’s own network or file access is governed by its specifications, settings, and license.
4. Information collected on the website
Analytics
We may use Google Analytics 4 and cookies to collect viewed pages, referrer, time, approximate device/browser data, language, region, and site interactions. See the Google Privacy Policy and cookie information.
Download measurement
When a download button is selected, we may record the file, OS/package type, button source, page language, country code, browser language, detected OS, path, referrer, hashed IP and User-Agent, and time to understand distribution, investigate problems, and detect abusive automation. These are clicks, not completed installations.
Cookies
We may use a language cookie retained for about one year, essential security/session cookies, and Google Analytics cookies. You can reject or delete them, although some settings may not work. Analytics may also be disabled using the opt-out add-on.
5. Purchases and payments
Stripe processes purchases and may handle names, email addresses, billing information, payment methods, amount, currency, and time. The Operator may receive results, transaction IDs, amount, currency, contact details, and license issuance records, but does not store full card numbers in the Cuvel license database. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy.

7. Disclosure and processors
We do not sell or disclose personal data except with consent, when required by law, to protect life, body, or property, or in a business succession. Hosting, email, analytics, payment, and incident-response providers may process data on our behalf. Google, Stripe, and others may process information outside Japan.
8. Retention
Information is kept as long as needed for its purpose, license, purchase or inquiry support, and legal, accounting, tax, security, or dispute requirements, then deleted or de-identified securely. Local settings and session data may remain until you delete the app data or app.
9. Security
We use reasonable controls such as access restrictions, encryption in transit, hashing of device identifiers, server-side key management, verification of signed authorization, and least privilege. No transmission or storage can be guaranteed completely secure.
10. Access, correction, and deletion
Subject to applicable law, you may request notice of purpose, access, correction, addition, deletion, suspension of use, or suspension of third-party disclosure. We may request information reasonably needed to verify identity or purchase and will explain any lawful refusal.
11. Changes
We may revise this policy when laws, features, external services, or data practices change. Material changes will be announced on the website or in the app, and consent will be obtained where required.
